Starr Nova, still in her normal human form, grabs her trusty sword and sets out to defeat the villains. It's all part of a cosmic adventure, but don't let the cute theme fool you — this brawler hits hard.

⚔️ How Starr Nova Plays

The most important thing to understand about Starr Nova is that she has two forms. Her starting form is significantly weaker. She's a Mythic Assassin who thrives at close-to-mid range, but before she transforms, she's just a regular human with a sword. You need to survive long enough to charge her Super, and that's where the skill gap comes in. A lot of players rush in thinking they're already the hero, and they get deleted before their Super even comes online. I've made that mistake more than once, and it stings.

When you do charge that Super, though, oh boy. Her Super transforms Starr Nova into a truly mighty form and lets her dash toward her victims. The transformation lasts for seven seconds, and during that window she becomes a menace. You go from carefully poking enemies to playing like a complete maniac. It's a fun loop: survive and charge in normal form, then go absolutely wild when the transformation kicks in. The catch? When those seven seconds end, you need to make sure you're not standing in the middle of a team fight with no escape plan. Positioning is everything.

Her Super+Basic combo is exceptionally good against both single targets and groups. You dash in and follow up with sword swings, and the burst damage can erase squishier brawlers. Unlike Damian, Starr Nova doesn't feel broken on arrival. Her basic projectiles are not overwhelming, and there are plenty of brawlers with more effective shots. Without her Super, she's honestly pretty average. But once that Super is active, she can threaten almost anyone on the map — maybe even Damian inside his ring of destruction. That contrast is what keeps her balanced, in my opinion.

Here's what I've been running on Starr Nova lately:

  • Star Power 1: Power Level: Maximum — Every new sword hit on a brawler gives Starr Nova a 5% damage buff, stacking up to 30%. This is my go-to because it increases your kill potential during the Super dash and helps you stay safe after the transformation ends. If you're going to play aggressively, this is the one.

  • Gadget 2: Shining Starr of Friendship and Justice — This is an energy ball that Starr Nova can shoot or use to teleport. In her normal form, it works as an extra weapon to help you survive and stay relevant while you charge your Super. It has saved my life more times than I can count.

  • Gears: Shield and Health — These help you stay alive in your fragile normal form. If you want more burst, swap in Damage to make your Super even scarier.

There are two other options for team players. Star Power 2, Mystical Starr Technique, makes her Basic Attack heal teammates. Gadget 1, Floaty Time, creates an anti-gravity area so allies can float. They sound fun, but I'm not fully sold. There are better healers like Poco and Pam, and floating requires coordination that's tough to pull off in online matchmaking. Also, you're not Janet — you can't damage enemies from above. Once the float ends, the danger is still there.

Starr Nova is a Mythic brawler, so she'll set you back 1,900 Credits. Is she worth it? If you enjoy high-risk, high-reward assassins who require patience and good timing, absolutely. If you want someone who can carry from the very first second, maybe look elsewhere. She's not a brain-dead pick, and that's a good thing.

Her release also landed right around the Brawl Cup 2026 tournament, so it wouldn't surprise me to see pro players experiment with her in the second half of the World Championship or future Brawl Stars esports seasons. I'll definitely be watching to see how the pros build her.
